“What do your kids call you… after you gave birth to them?”

I’m a man, and I gave birth to my children. Becoming a father wasn’t an accident—it was intentional. Pregnancy wasn’t a “woman’s role” for me; it was the biological road I could take to become a parent. I didn’t stop being myself, even though I had to pause my transition. I was a man doing something hard because it mattered. And so I became not just transgender man but a trans dad.

The Struggles of Being a Pregnant Man

Being pregnant in a world that assumes every pregnant person is a woman comes with unique challenges: the stares, the misgendering, and the constant need to decide when to correct people and when to protect my own peace. Some days were isolating, some days frustrating, and some days just plain hard.

Those Moments That Make It All Worth It

Then there are the moments that make everything else fade away: my kids running into the room, laughing, and yelling “Dad!” like it’s the most natural thing in the world. No hesitation, no explanation—just love and certainty. I’m not a trans dad to them. To them I’m just a dad.

Being a Trans Dad Is Everything

Being their father isn’t just something I’m proud of—it’s the truest confirmation of who I am. The role that fits me most honestly. The one that feels like home.

A Message to Other Trans Parents

My story isn’t meant to convince anyone. It’s just real. And if you’re a trans person wondering whether your path to parenthood can exist outside the boxes people expect—know this: it can. And it’s worth it.
